Holiday Letter 2008

I just realized that 2009 marks the 35th anniversary of our graduation.  My God!

I send you our holiday letter, January 2009:

"Gratitude is heaven itself." ~William Blake

The New Year marks a three-year chapter in our lives when we have primarily focused on supporting our older daughters through serious, life-changing illnesses. Their journeys this year have brought them to welcome turning points, and we feel they are poised for good things in 2009. Both girls have taken time out for personal development: Kate (now age 21) has been living in Boulder, Colorado and Stephanie (now age 18) near Montpelier, Vermont.

Meanwhile, Jamie turns 11 this month, is enjoying the 5th grade Waldorf school curriculum and recently added knitting socks to her expanding repertoire of abilities. Brian continues with his environmental law practice at Barg, Coffin, Lewis and Trapp and is now president of the Marin Theatre Company board of directors. Tracy continues to run the finance, research, planning and entropy-reversal divisions of our family’s enterprise and spends time on hiking trails and her yoga mat to keep mind and body together. We are nurturing the nascent Macrina Community (the first new Episcopal congregation in our diocese in 35 years) into deepening shared life, creating a gathering place where friends and strangers can feed their spiritual hunger.

In this month named for Janus — the god who faces in two directions — we invite you to join us in looking back to gather wisdom from experience and forward to nurture hope from possibilities.

With love,

Tracy and Brian
