Hope this finds you well. It's been a while since we've communicated with many of you, so Vivian and I thought it would
be a good idea to you a brief update on our lives.
We are happily ensconced in Novato, California, where we bought a home one year ago. It's a cute place in a brand new community (although Ted's commute into San Francisco can be pretty miserable unless he leaves at crack of dawn), and it's our first home. Max is thriving (and almost 7 years old) and is in first grade at the local public school. He enjoys science class, singing in a local chorus and bike riding with his dad. He's very fond of Walter and Dooley (our two birds), and loves being read to before going to bed. We try to get him to read to us (and put us to bed), but since he really hasn't figured out how to recognize words with more than four letters yet, this is generally not very effective. Mark is now 19 years old, living in Minneapolis and working for Digital River, an e-commerce company that manages the web stores for many well-known firms. He works nights in the customer service department, and gets to take all the calls from people who are frustrated and angry. He'll be going back to school soon to finish his degree in Computer Science, after which he'll soon be making more money than his dad ... Ted's company, Meridian Resources Associates, continues to grown in spite of the economic turndown, although it has been a tough slog the last six months. The world seems to need more intercultural knowledge, and many organizations want it on the web, and that's a large part of what we offer. If you want to know more, please visit our web site at www.meridianglobal.com. Vivian is very happy to have her own home and a small yard to fix up. She continues to work part time, holding Meridian together as HR Manager and financial overseer and full time as mom. She also volunteers at Max's school and is working to become more involved with the new community. She has recently joined a women's investment club and figures to make her fortune in the next couple of months (!!?). If any of you are coming to the SF Bay area in the near future, please let us know. We'd be happy to see you (and we're only a 20 minute drive from Napa Valley). Ted Dale |
