Jennifer Barkard Farkas, Ph.D

Updated July 2002

The first day I arrived in Mr. Donald Welti's 5th grade class, I was a nervous wreck. After finishing some intimidating placement tests, I was taken to the quonset hut that housed the 5th grade. As I entered the class broke into spontaneous applause. I was girl #12 in a class of 24, bringing the number of boys and girls up to an even tie. What a great welcome that was! Now, with a Ph.D in Japanese Education and years in the field, I'm back in school, working on another Masters, this time in social work. I plan on counseling Japanese families here in the Midwest.
