I hope this finds you well! I got your email, and am definitely planning to be in San Francisco for the June reunion -- since my sister Stephanie is helping to organize it with Alma, I will not be able to miss it!

As I write this, I am counting the days before I leave for Tokyo on October 16th as I am attending the Japan reunion, too! Stephanie and I will be rooming together at the Century Hyatt in Shinjuku where the reunion will be, and I am even going to spend a few days in Hong Kong, my old stomping grounds, seeing old friends and my aunt, who still lives in Macao. Jamie was supposed to join my in HK, but work is keeping him too busy as fall is always a busy time for him. So he has promised to hold the fort down here, and I am off SOLO for 10 days. It is so complicated to get a trusted long time housekeeper who will be with the kids when they get back from school everyday.

So I am off to reconnect with my Asian roots, and I am very excited about everything right down to the long flight with nobody asking me anything! I have reconnected with Ted Skillman ('73) who I saw in L.A. last year and is running the Tokyo alumni group. We hadn't seen each other since my Hong Kong days in the early 80's so it was great to see him again. I know Julia Ludlow ('72) and her husband will be there, but haven't heard from anyone else from the States going who is from our era. I know there will be several faculty members I know, plus I know several alums who live in Tokyo and Hong Kong who will most likely be there.

We attended a great party for Mr. Nimori when he passed through L.A. last spring at the Jackie Conner Bascue's house, which was attended by Tracy Katayama Esse ('75), Mi (Carol) Ryu ('74), Yen Hong ('74), Linda Purl ('73) and me, among others. I have since seen Jackie Conner, who is a Superior Court judge here in L.A. -- she is a really impressive woman.

My Cornell 25th is also in June, 2003, although it is earlier in the month. I still cannot believe it has been that long since I graduated from college! So this promises to be a very exciting 6 months ahead in terms of reconnecting with old friends from the past.

I find that since the WTC disaster and all the grim news since then, good times spent with my family and close friends is ever more precious and meaningful. I feel truly blessed by the extended family I have in my ASIJ classmates especially who remind me of happy memories of growing up in Tokyo for 12 years. I take it you are not going to Tokyo -- I was hoping you would go! It sounds like you will be in S.F., however, and I look forward to catching up with you there.

Eveyrone is fine in my family. Gavin is 7-1/2 and Caroline is 3, and we are having the best time raising these two energetic, happy kids. Jamie and I celebrated 20 years of marriage last month! My sisters are both well, and my parents continue to be world travelers at 81 and 83. I am hoping their good genes have been passed down to their daughters, because I have YEARS of parenting ahead of me and will need their kind of energy!
