I have finally decided to take the plunge into the past - I don"t know why I have waited so long, perhaps because Israel is so far away, and life here so different. Anyway, I am married to Goira, 26 yrs, we have a restaurant in Tel Aviv - The Tel Aviv Brewhouse. If any of you end up in this part of the world you are all invited to a meal you will never forget. We have two sons, Davey(21) and Jonathan(23). Jonathan is travelling in South America after serving in the Israeli Defence Force (compulsory). Most of his service was done in the West Bank and for three years I was a nervous wreck and sleep deprived. Davey is in an elite intelligence unit(not in the field, thank god) and will complete his service this June. Our lives here are constantly on edge with the political situation still looking bleak as ever. We support the Labour party and would like to see Israel withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza. But I won't elaborate on my political views except to say that it is an inseperable part of our lives in this country. I graduated from art school when my boys were toddlers and I am currenly working towards an exhibition. In spite of the turmoil in Israel , I love living here and have planted deep roots in this country. There are many beautiful aspects of Israel which you probably don't hear about, world media being what it is and its quite safe to travel here. So come to visit us and I will show you around the land of milk and honey. Esther Goldsztejn Ben Ari |
