2001 highlights: The world seems different to us this year: we are aware of all our good fortune and the strength we feel from all the interesting people that we love. We traveled a bit before the world shut down: cruised through the Panama Canal on a journey that included Costa Rica and Cartegena, Columbia. Ann spent a week studying watercolor in Mexico. We again pursue relocating to Seattle, which didn't happen due to corporate belt tightening. Spring in Atlanta was well celebrated as nephew Colin Hubbard graduated from U of GA and niece Conor from Riverwood HS. We are still swimming and started playing golf. Frank has taken up guitar and it's like having a rock star in the house. He continues to star in his own version of This Old House. Ann wishes for more time to pursue the aesthetic life, but is happy to have great activities: Dialogue Group, Book Club, Ladies Night Out, Yoga, and as many art classes as can be worked in. 2002 highlights: A Canadian fishing trip taught us that catching your dinner is not a guarantee - but our gracious family hosts were such good company that it didn't matter. Their cabin on Lac Becloit in Quebec served as a refreshing respite for these heat weary Texans. Our niece kept her annual tradition with a trip to Dallas over a long Labor Day weekend. We all enjoyed dance under the stars, shopping and visiting, with Ann's mom joining us. The ongoing house renovation has taken over our lives. Frank excavated a basement under the house and ½ of the house is totally torn up at the moment. He promises completion by Thanksgiving 2003 and Ann survives on hope. December we spent in London and celebrated New Years with Ann's next door neighbor from Tokyo, Jennie Miller Privet, and her family. Ann Hubbard McIntyre Mirja's comments after a visit to Dallas in Spring 2002: Ann continues to work as a senior account executive for StorageTek. She has authored a book about writing masterful sales letters and maintains a home that is pure art form. Frank is a lawyer in private practice with the most fabulous home office. |
